Back to Basics

Apparently FK issue 44 is out. The theme for the ET project in this issue was old and new. It was a coincidence that just at this time Steve found some old pictures that showed him when he was the same age as Max and pretty much in the same situation as well, on Santa's lap. This layout is also one of my favourites because I went back to basics.
My dad turned 60 on the 19th of February this year and I decided on a whim to fly to Germany for a week to be there for the big day. The only problem was that I had about 5 assignments due straight after I got back. So I packed a few basic supplies and got really organized in terms of what paper I was going to use etc. And this layout is one of the projects I did just using a pen, some rub-ons and a stamp for the diamonds. Pretty simple but quite effective I think :) By the way buying supplies in Germany wasn't an option since there is not much around in terms of scrapping products. Looking forward to having a good look at the mag when I get my hands on it...

    Fabulous

Had a fabulous crop night yesterday but I'm a little tired today...staying up until midnight is obviously a thing of the past because I seem to suffer the next day. I managed to sneek away this afternoon though for half an hour for a little nap :)
Here is another LO created with the fab July kit from
  • OPAAT.

  • Hope you all have a great weekend! Mine is very quiet and uneventful and that is how I like them. Nowhere to go and nothing to do...it's bliss.

    Quick post

I'm off to a crop tonight with a few friends so this will be a really quick post. Just wanted to post a layout I did with the July kit from
  • OPAAT
  • . I've only used products from the kit, there is so much stuff in them!
    Have a great weekend!

    It arrived!

I'm talking about my first kit from
  • OPAAT
  • that I get to play with! Check it out, so many goodies!

Not much else happening this week. Working on a few projects, an online class for next month. Will tell more soon :)
Feeling tired today so I will take myself to bed and get some sleep instead of blog hopping...night, night.

    Class Kits

I have something else to share that I really enjoyed doing...I've designed a class kit for
  • Aussie Scrap Source.
  • You can view the July class kits on their website now and pre-order.
I hope to be doing some more of these. It was real fun.
These kits basically get sold to retailers so they don't have to design their own classes. It helps everyone. The retailers save time and the people taking the classes get fresh ideas every month. And I get to play and have fun :) It's a win for everyone.
So here is the July kit I designed for Aussie Scarp Source. Go check it out and tell your retailer about it. Have a good weekend everyone!

    Sooooooooo excited!

I can finally let the cat out of the bag...I'm one of 6 girls announced for the new DT at
  • One Page at a Time.
  • OPAAT is a kit club in the US with some awesome monthly kits.
I have been in love with kits ever since they came on the market. So I'm really really happy to be part of one now. The girls at OPAAT are super friendly, go check it out. I can't wait to get my first kit and start playing around. Will post some pics here when it arrives :)
Better go and cook some dinner now, I think the family may want some food on the table tonight...still can't believe it...

    BB newsletter

I'm happy to say that I was asked to be the Celebrated Scrapper for June for
  • Blue Bazaar.
  • Thank you for the opportunity Luise.
I had fun creating some new layouts for the newsletter and playing around with some new products...
And I will get to create a layout for the portal in the last week of June.
I'm having a lot of fun lately just scrapping the photos that inspire me. The load with For Keeps has considerably eased with the book and the calendar done and the teaching at ISC over. I did enjoy all of it though, I'm a sucker for deadlines :)
Hope you all have a good weekend!

    Trying

I'm trying to back up old photos at the moment. I'm talking two years old. Everytime I'm looking through the pics I find something that inspires me and I get an idea in my head and then instead of doing a back up I end up scrapping a page like this one...I adore this picture of Max sitting on our dog Cooper.

Otherwise my week has been very slow so far with Romy being home from Kindy with a cold. Didn't get much time to scrap, hopefully the weekend will be better.
Keep an eye out for tonights newsletter from
  • Blue Bazaar
  • :)

    ISC update

It's overdue I know but I only got home yesterday afternoon. What an awesome weekend, where do I start?
We got there Friday late morning and had a briefing and lunch together. It was great to break the ice between the people that hadn't met before. I shared a room with
  • Zina
  • , what can I say, she is just so sweet. Hej Zina, thanks for not jumping into my bed. Zina doesn't like sleeping alone:) Then there were
  • Ngaire
  • and
  • Lisa
  • , so inspirational and with so much more teaching experience. But they just made me feel welcome from the start. There was a great bond and atmosphere between all the tutors. I hope we get to work together again girls! Kerrin did a fantastic job of organizing the event and made sure everything ran just smooth.
Friday night was the Inspiration Crop sponsored by Sally from Delish Designs, beautiful products. If you haven't seen them before go and have a look at the website. Julia did a great job at runnung the crop and people generally had a good time having a drink and getting to know each other. I met Tamar and Suz from
  • Tarisota Collections.
  • Very friendly girls, loved meeting them. If you don't know about Tarisota Collections now is the time to check it out. They bring out a beautiful kit of coordinated products every month, and did I say the kits are beautiful?? I also caught up with Cheryl from
  • Aussie Scrapsource
  • , loved meeting her again.
There were also some girls from
  • Blue Bazaar
  • that I hadn't met before, Loretta, Juanita and of course Debbie was there. Loved meeting all of you girls!
Saturday we had classes all day and then Deborah generously invited the sponsors, tutors, class helpers and Pride staff for dinner. We had a ball.
Sunday classes again and in the afternoon presentations and thank you's to the sponsors, class helpers and tutors.
It was an exhausting weeking but so much fun at the same time. The friendships that we take away from these conventions are priceless. I hope I get to do another one some day. Then Sunday afternoon Steve and the kids arrived and we spent the next two days at Seaworld. It was such an adventure for the kids. On Tuesday on our way to Seaworld we ran into Jodie from Scraptacular in Melbourne. Jodie's kids and my kids had made friends the night before in Kids Club. So we ended up spending most of the day together at Seaworld and having dinner together back at the resort. It was great to meet you Jodie and we loved your and your mum's company. I will definitely come visit next time I'm in Melbourne.
So that is the wrap up. There is so much more to tell but my head is still a bit fuzzy from it all :)
I will share one of the classes I was teaching. It was the Scrapworks class. Hope to see all of you next time!

    Cold, cold go away...

It feels like I'm getting another cold. I've just had one not long ago, so I'm not impressed! ISC is on next weekend, I will have to be better by then...
Not much to tell this week. Pretty much just the normal stuff going on.
ISC preperations going well, I'm looking forward to going.
I did some Urban Lily projects this week. I loved that their papers are so bright and colourful. I love colour!
I'm hoping to get my Jenni Bowlin kit next week. Her stuff is awesome. You have to check it out. There is a link in my sidebar.
Have a good weekend and a Happy Mothers Day!

    Just had to...

I just had to get myself one those slide shows on my blog. I saw it at Ambers and Zina's blog. Thanks girls! :)

    My little girl..

...she is growing up so fast! She is not even 5 yet and she had her ears pierced this week. She was so brave and only had a little cry when it was all over. She is sooooooo proud of her pink little earrings.

I have been doing a bit of scrapping this week, some of which I can share. I have also put the final touches on my classes for the ISC weekend. Looking forward to meeting some new people and just having a good time. Steve and the kids will also fly up to Brisbane on Sunday and we will take the kids to Seaworld and spend a couple of days at Nara Resort. Look forward to that as well. Hope you all have a good weekend!

    New Puppy...

Steve came home on Sunday afternoon with an 18 week old german shephard puppy. Her name is Rani and she is the cutest thing. I had to take some pics straight away and got some adorable photos with her and Romy (who was coincidentally wearing her fairy dress at the time :)

Also finished a layout last night that only took me a couple of hours. That is really good for me, I'm not usually a speed scrapper. Having to scrap to deadlines for the past year has helped me enourmously to pick up my scrapping speed. I don't sit in front of a layout for days anymore, because really by then I'm over it and don't want to look at it anymore. By the way the layout was done with the fabulous Jenni Bowlin March Kit. You should really check out her website, there is a link on my sidebar.

    Have a good week everyone!

    Saturday morning...

I love Saturday mornings, they are slow and everyone is just happy to potter around, including the kids. I believe once they start school next year that will change, or so people keep telling me. So lets enjoy them while we can.
I've built a zoo this morning with Max and he was so happy about it. Must do these things more often.

I finished my cherryArte Dt entry yesterday. I have no idea what to expect. I really loved working with their papers. They seemed to suit my style of scrapping really well, but is it what they are looking for? So the waiting begins :) There is some great stuff in the
  • cherryArte gallery
  • if you want to go and have a look.

I hope you all have a good weekend!

    Moths...

...have been invading our pantry. I know, it's disgusting. But they are all gone now. The pantry is cleared out and Steve even gave some moths to the fish, disgusting as well, I know. But they were eating them.
New FK is out apparently. I haven't seen it yet but here is my layout in it.
Short and sweet today. Have a good weekend everyone :)

    Overdosed...

...on chocolate. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Easter seems to go on forever, almost as big as Christmas. 4 Easter egg hunts in 3 days! It started Good Friday because Monique, my step daughter and her little sister came over since they were going away for Easter. Easter egg hunt number 1. Saturday a friend came over with her kids and we had Easter egg hunt number 2. And then the Sunday morning Easter surprise and another hunt at grandpa's place later in the day. I'm exhausted just thinking about it :)
It was funny though to watch how different the kids 'operate'. On Friday Max would just stop looking for eggs as soon as he had about 6 eggs in his basket. Then he would sit down and just start eating them one after another. He wasn't concerned about finding anymore. He knew he more in his basket then he could eat. I did stop him after egg number three though...

Haven't been scrapping over Easter but I'm now working on the classes for ISC GC. I hope some of you are going.
Thanks to everyone that has dropped in to say hello!

    Play time...

I had some play time today. Got out some Fontwerk stamps that I've had for a while and set myself the challenge to use them on a layout. So I got the birthday photos out from last weekend and decided the photos aren't all that good, but these little Fontwerk frame stamps were just right for some little shots. They would probably be really good to hold journalling too. I've also tried out a new size, 8x8. It's fun to do smaller layouts now and again especially if the photos aren't great but I still want to have a little reminder of the day.
I'm off to bed now :)

    Busy, busy, busy...

It's been a week since my last post! Have been really busy this week scrapping but unfortunately can't share much of it :(
Here is one of my daughter and the funny thing she came out with this week. I'm trying to record all those quirky comments because I know if I don't I will forget them.

Yesterday my friends little girl turned 3. Happy Birthday Saskia! She is such a cutie. Here is a picture of her and Romy...

The party was at Centennial Park and we had a beatiful day for it.
In the evening we had some friends over for a BBQ, the kids had a ball and went straight to sleep when we put them into bed. You gotta love that! Today I feel like I need a sleep. Here is a picture of Romy and Charlie last night.

And do you think my boy needs a haircut?? :))

    Have a good Sunday everyone!

    New FK...

I've seen it at the Newsagent but haven't got my copy yet. Hopefully will get it tomorrow. Here are my two layouts in this months issue. You know when you do a layout and then you look at it six months later and you think...hmm I would probably do it differently now. That happens to me very frequently. lol. This month I'm looking at my layouts and I still like them. That's good right?
Things are finally calming down a bit...the book is done and also the calendar is wrapped up. Now it's back to monthly assignments and the occasional article. Which leaves me some time to play! So I've nearly finished my first layout for the CherryArte DT contest. Yes I will enter...you have to be in it to win it right? I never thought I would be part of the ET Team but you just never know. So who else is going to give it a try?
Also thanks to everyone that left comments on my blog. It doesn't feel so lonely in 'blog world' anymore :)

And here is a funny story before I go...A couple of days ago my husband Steve and his ex-wife had to go to a parent-teacher meeting at their daughters school so I agreed to babysit her 2 youngest ones (3years and 9 months old girls). The 3 year old was fine, she is very familiar with my children, but the baby cried for the entire 2 hours...I then told my husband in no uncertain terms that I would not be available to babysit the youngest one again. He was very apologetic and said the reason he arranged it was because he thought I might get clucky again. rofl. Well that backfired big time :)))

    Have a good day!
